Student at Svitlo

Age: 15
City / Region:  Kharkiv
Current Location: Germany

Start at Svitlo: June 2025

Responsibilities at Svitlo:

  •  I am the Head of Prefects for the younger group at Svitlo School, where I recruit and support prefects, ensuring they carry out their responsibilities effectively. I also stay in regular contact with them and assist them in their roles.
  • I am a Reading Buddy, where I support students in learning English by reading books with them and helping them develop their language skills. I also motivate them, create a positive and engaging atmosphere, and introduce new vocabulary and cultural perspectives.
  • I am a co-host in the Mafia Club, where I help lead sessions together with other co-hosts and the teacher. We organize and play Mafia with students, using the game as a fun and interactive way to practice English.
  • I am also a prefect in the Mafia Club, where I ensure that students follow the rules, are present, and actively participate during lessons. I communicate with the teacher and regularly develop creative topics and themes to make each session engaging and unique.
  • I am a buddy for both younger and older groups, where I help new students at Svitlo  understand how the school works and answer their questions. I also create a friendly and welcoming environment, acting as someone they can rely on.
  • I am a member of the Student Council, where I take part in shared responsibilities and contribute to school initiatives. In addition, I am part of the Celebration Team, where we create messages and designs for teachers’ birthdays and send them as a sign of appreciation.
  • Additionally, I took part in Pre-Ukraine Global Scholars Group organised by Svitlo School.

Future Plans:

In the future, I would like to graduate from school and study at a university while continuing to support Ukraine and contribute to its rebuilding and development. I also hope to help improve language education institutions in Ukraine, especially those teaching English, German, and other European languages, so that more people particularly the younger generation can develop strong communication skills and connect more effectively on an international level.

Self-description in one sentence:

I believe that only by being brave can you change the world!

Impact of Svitlo:

Svitlo means family, community, opportunities, and friendship to me. It has not only improved my English but also brought amazing people into my life who continue to support me, even at a distance, as we stay connected and share meaningful moments together. Svitlo has had a profound impact on my life by giving me unforgettable experiences, new opportunities, and a deeper understanding of different cultures. To me, Svitlo is not just a school - it is the people who make it truly special.

Scholarships / Opportunities:

  • Pre-Ukraine Global Scholars Group;
  • 2 weeks in MPW (London) in summer 2026.
