Maya graduated from McGill University in Montreal with a Bachelor’s degree in International Development and Economics. She is passionate about social impact and supporting community-led initiatives.
In 2025, Maya was sponsored by the German YMCA in London to participate in the YMCA Europe Leadership Academy programme, Bridging Cultures: From Personal Transformation to Community Development, where she developed skills in needs assessments, social project design and working with civil society organisations.
Through this experience, Maya was introduced to Svitlo School and supported the organisation’s first Alumni Camp in collaboration with the German YMCA in London’s Room for Opportunity Initiative. Meeting Svitlo alumni and celebrating their achievements at the Alumni Camp Graduation at The Shard was a highlight and continues to inspire her work.
Maya now serves as Report and Partnerships Coordinator, supporting Svitlo’s programmes by strengthening partnerships and communicating the organisation’s impact. Her role includes contributing to stakeholder communications, supporting project delivery and preparing reports that showcase Svitlo’s work.
In her free time, Maya enjoys exploring new areas of London, rating films on Letterboxd and attending live music events.
