The history of theday

International Women’s Day mayseem like a modern holiday, but its history goes back more than a hundredyears. It started in the early 1900s during a time when women were fighting forbetter working conditions and equal rights. In 1908, about 15,000 women marchedthrough New York City. They protested against unfair treatment at work anddemanded shorter working hours, better pay, and the right to vote. This protestbecame one of the first major steps in the movement for women’s rights. A yearlater, in 1909, the Socialist Party of America provided the first NationalWomen’s Day in the United States. It was celebrated on the last Sunday ofFebruary until 1913. The holiday was celebrated for the first time in 1911 inAustria, Denmark, Switzerland, and Germany on March 19. Today, InternationalWomen's Day is celebrated every year on March 8 in many countries around theworld. It is a day to recognise women’s achievements in politics, science, business, culture, and society. It is also a reminder that the fight for genderequality, fair opportunities, and respect continues.

About the women’s rights

woman is one of themost powerful forces in the world. In her character, tenderness and resilience, wisdom and courage, compassion and the ability to transform reality beautifullycoexist. Women do not only give life — they shape the future. They raise generations, pass on values, and contribute to the development of science, art, diplomacy, business, and politics.

For me, women’srights are, first of all, the right to choose. The right to dream withoutlimitations. The right to build your own path, to set ambitious goals, and notbe afraid to be strong, confident, and determined. Every girl should know thather voice matters, that her ideas are important, and that her potential istruly limitless.

Today, Ukrainian women are apowerful symbol of strength, dignity, and resilience. In the most difficulttimes, they demonstrate incredible endurance, courage, and the ability tosupport others. They teach children, save lives, volunteer, create new opportunities, and take responsibility for the future.
